Switched from prefinished plywood to sanding and finishing my own panels about 5 years back after a client complained about visible seams on a kitchen job in Austin.
The extra time sucks but I can actually match the grain now and get a seamless look on long runs, has anyone else made that switch and regretted the extra sanding?

Yeah, the hand and knee time is what gets me too. I keep telling myself I'll buy knee pads that actually work one of these days, but here we are. It's one of those trades where you pay for it later either way - your time now or your eyes hating the seams forever.

Man, you're making me want to give it another shot. I took the same plunge about three years ago for a long hallway job and honestly the seamless finish on those 12-foot runs made all the sanding worth it. But that extra time on hands and knees smoothing out every last pass still haunts me sometimes.
