Talking to an old timer about drawer slides changed my whole approach
Was swapping tips with a guy at the lumber yard last week, must be pushing 70. He told me he stopped using soft close slides on custom jobs because customers complained after 2 years when they started sagging. Said he just uses good old epoxy coated side mounts and focuses on getting the box square instead. Made me realize I've been overcomplicating stuff trying to impress people with features that don't last. Anyone else ditch soft close for reliability?

Switched to standard ball bearing slides years ago and never looked back.
