That one customer who watched me build his cabinets for an hour just said 'you really care' and walked away

He stood there in the shop last Tuesday, didn't say a word while I was squaring up a face frame, then tipped me $40 after dropping that line - has anyone else had a quiet moment with a client that just made the whole job worth it?

you put the pieces in straight" hits different when you know the work was solid.

Yeah my uncle had a lady watch him tile her entire kitchen backsplash for 3 hours, not a peep, then she handed him a thermos of coffee and said "you put the pieces in straight" and left. He still talks about it.

Did she just want to make sure the tile wasn't crooked, or was she letting him finish so she didn't have to confront him mid-job?
