Threw $400 down the drain on a cheap drawer slide jig last month
I bought this budget drawer slide jig off Amazon for like $40 thinking I was being smart. Figured a jig is a jig, right? Well, I had a kitchen job with 15 drawers and after the third one, the jig slipped on me and I drilled the holes crooked. Had to scrap the drawer box and start over with new material. The wood alone cost me around $100, plus the extra time which I bill at $50 an hour so that was another $300 in lost hours. Tried to make it work by clamping it tighter but the whole thing just flexed. Ended up going to my local Woodcraft and dropping $150 on a proper Accu-Slide jig and it lined up perfect on the first try. Anyone else get burned chasing a bargain on cabinet hardware tools?
