Vent: I was struggling to get a clean scribe on a weirdly bowed plaster wall for a built-in, so I tried a trick an old-timer in my dad's shop showed me years ago... using a compass with a pencil on one side and a small block of wood on the other to trace the wall's contour directly onto the plywood.
Some guys swear by cardboard templates or laser levels, but this low-tech method gave me a perfect fit on the first try, so what's your go-to method for tricky scribes?

That compass trick saved my bacon on a 3-inch bow last year, @kim.jake.

ngl my scribes usually look like a toddler with a crayon tried to copy the wall. Might have to try the compass trick before I give up and just caulk the gap.

Yeah that compass trick is a game changer for sure. I used to just eyeball it and end up with a wavy mess. Now I set the compass to the biggest gap, run it along the wall, and cut that line. Works on baseboards, countertops, all kinds of stuff. Makes it look like a pro did it even when you're just some guy in his garage lol.
