Vent: That one drawer front that took me 4 hours to get perfect

Spent way too long trying to dial in the grain match on a walnut drawer face for a custom kitchen in Oak Park. Anyone else spend half a day on a single part that should've taken 45 minutes?

Took 4 hours to get perfect" sounds about right for me too, except mine usually end up looking like I did it in 4 minutes after all that effort. I swear walnut grain matching is just a test of patience that I keep failing. At least we're in good company with our overthinking!

Here's the thing that gets me though @morgan.rose - do you actually think the wood even cares if we match the grain or if it's just us making up rules for ourselves? I mean, I spent three hours once trying to line up a walnut panel that was basically impossible because the boards came from different trees. Ended up just flipping one upside down and it looked fine. Maybe it's just me but I feel like we overthink this stuff because we see the imperfections nobody else notices.
