Customer in Fresno told me my barrel connectors were junk
Guy was an old ham radio operator and watched me crimp a connector. He said I was using the wrong die size and showed me his way with a proper hex crimp. Switched to the军用spec dies and havent had a single return on those connections in 6 months. Anyone else run into old timers with better methods?

Old ham guys know their stuff when it comes to connectors, no doubt. I had a similar wake-up call with a marine electrician who showed me how to properly prep coax before I even touched a crimper. Now I follow his method to the letter and my failure rate dropped to almost nothing.

Ha! Yeah those old ham guys will set you straight, @seth_singh20. I had a guy yell at me for like 20 minutes about how I was stripping the shield wrong on some LMR-400. He made me redo it three times before he'd even let me look at a crimp tool. Now I use his method of scoring the jacket with a razor blade instead of those cheap strippers and I haven't wrecked a connector since. It's wild how one little trick can save you hours of frustration.
