Got stuck in a crawl space in Phoenix for 2 hours and it changed my whole gear setup
I was on a job in a really old neighborhood in Phoenix last summer, trying to run a new line. The crawl space was maybe 18 inches high, full of dust and old pipes. My main drill battery died halfway through, and my backup was dead too because I forgot to charge it. I had to army crawl all the way back out, covered in grime, just to get a working tool. Now I'm totally split on gear philosophy. One side says pack light and fast, only take the absolute minimum to avoid getting bogged down. The other side says always bring double of everything, even if it slows you down, because getting stuck is a nightmare. I even started carrying a tiny backup hand drill after that. What's your move in tight spots, go light or pack for every problem?

See this same fight in every part of life now. People want to be fast and light with their phone, their car, their whole setup. But then one dead battery or flat tire wrecks your whole day. Your crawl space story is just the work version of that. I've settled on a middle ground. I pack the absolute must haves light, but I always have one backup for the single point of failure. For you, that's the drill battery. Saves your back but also saves your butt.
