Try raceways for a clean look without opening walls.

For a long time, I insisted on in-wall wiring for any install. A recent job made me reconsider that rule. The client used raceways similar to what @davidprice mentioned, and the result was surprisingly clean. You get most of the look without the extra time and mess of opening walls. It turns out that perfection isn't always worth the drywall dust. Now I recommend raceways for any project where full demolition isn't already planned.

Nathan's point hits home. I was just as stubborn about hiding wires until a client showed me their raceway setup. @davidprice had the right idea all along, it's a game changer for quick jobs.
