I finally admit pulling coax through finished walls is sometimes dumb

I spent 6 hours last Tuesday fishing RG6 through a 2 story house in Phoenix and hit a fire block I couldn't get past. Ended up drilling from the attic and patching three holes in the drywall. My boss swears by using flex bits but I broke two of them on studs that had metal plates. Next time I'm just running the line on the outside with white cable clips and calling it a day. Has anyone else just given up on hiding lines in tough spots?

Wait hold up, flex bits aren't meant for studs with metal plates. You gotta use a metal cutting bit for those or just avoid them altogether. The flex bit is for getting past fire blocks and insulation, not for going through actual studs especially ones with plates on them.

I mean a flex bit will punch through a metal plate just fine if you're not afraid to lean on it a little. Not every job needs a specialty tool when brute force works.

Nah man. Lean on a flex bit through a metal plate? That's just asking for trouble. That bit will wander and snap. Ive seen it happen. You'll end up with a bent bit and a ruined stud. Just grab the right tool. It takes two seconds to swap bits.
