Last Wednesday was the worst install day I've had in 5 years
I was running RG6 through an attic in Phoenix when it hit 112 outside. The attic was like an oven, probably 140 degrees easy. Then the homeowner's dog got loose and chewed through the cable I just finished terminating. I had to redo the whole run from scratch after chasing the dog around the neighborhood for 20 minutes. Has anyone else had a day where everything just went wrong like that?

Did you try offering the dog a treat before running the line?

I learned the hard way to keep a roll of painters tape in my pocket for the RG6 ends anytime there's a loose pet around. Always tape off both ends before you walk away from the cable.

The tape trick works but I found out the hard way that electrical tape leaves that sticky residue all over the connectors. Painter's tape is the right call since it peels off clean. I keep a roll in my tool bag and another in my truck after my neighbor's puppy chewed through a fresh run of cable. What really helped me was just capping both ends with those little plastic covers before I even start pulling the line. Saves you from having to chase down an animal that thinks your cable is a toy.
