Old timer at the supply house told me to stop using compression fittings on RG6... I was doing it wrong for years
Ran into a dude named Frank at the Graybar in Columbus last Tuesday. He saw me grabbing a bag of compression connectors and just goes "you're making your life harder than it needs to be kid." Told me to switch to crimp on for outdoor stuff. I laughed it off but figured why not try it. First job with crimp connectors was a house that had direct burial cable running to a shed. Not a single service call back in 3 months. Now I'm converted. Anyone else have an old timer change their whole setup?

Frank over at Graybar in Cincinnati told me the same thing three years ago about crimp on connectors for outdoor stuff. I was skeptical at first because compression felt more secure, but he showed me a batch of returns from a local cable company that proved otherwise. Now I only use compression inside climate controlled spaces and crimp everywhere else, cuts my callbacks down a ton.

Agree completely, that guy Frank knows his stuff because I switched over after seeing the same failure rates on compression connectors outside.
