Remember when we used to run coax by feel in the dark?

Back in 2012 at my first job in Denver, I'd be crawling through attics at 7pm with just a headlamp, stripping RG6 by touch cause I couldn't see a thing. Now I've got a Klein scout tool with the tone and probe - cost me $180 - and I can trace a line through concrete walls in 5 minutes flat. Anyone else still keep a pair of old-school strippers in their bag for nostalgia?

Keep a cheap pair of Ideal strippers in my glovebox for the tight attic spaces.

Yeah, @the_anthony that's exactly the move. I keep a spare pair of cheap Klein's in my truck door for the same reason, the nice ones for my daily carry but those old beaters are perfect when you're crawling around in some dusty attic or crawling under a house and don't want to scratch up your good tools. The vinyl grip gets all sticky in the heat though, so I wrapped mine with a bit of electrical tape and it's held up fine for years now.

Wrap 'em in electrical tape though? Is it really that deep that you gotta tape up your strippers? I mean I get not wanting sticky grips but I just wipe mine off with a rag every now and then, never had a problem worth taping over.
