Rolling cable drums in the 90s vs now, the difference is wild

Back in 97 I was hauling 500 foot RG6 drums up three flights of stairs in Portland because we didn't have those little wheel carts yet. Now they hand me a spool that fits in a backpack and I can feed a whole house without breaking a sweat. The connectors changed too, we used to strip and crimp everything by hand, now it's all compression fittings that take 10 seconds. Anyone else remember carrying a full tool belt with a 20 pound crimper on your hip all day? What's the one tool you'd never trade from the old days?

Hauling those 500 foot drums on stairs, I still feel that in my lower back every time it rains. But I'd trade all the fancy compression fittings just to keep my old crimper around, mostly for the arm workout it gave me. Now my only workout is lifting my coffee mug on the way to the job site.

That coffee mug workout hits different, but try a padded shoulder strap for those drums next time, it saves your back way more than you'd think.
