Switched from push-pull rods to glow rods for attic runs
I used to wrestle with those fiberglass push-pull rods for 3 years in Denver attics and they always snapped or got stuck. Last month I finally tried glow rods and finished a 60 foot run in 10 minutes flat. Anybody else find these way easier for tight spaces?

Honestly glow rods have their own problems though. Those batteries always die when you need them most and the glow fades after a few months. Push-pull rods might be annoying but at least they never leave you stuck in a hot attic with no light.

Find that's the funny thing about tools in general, everything has a tradeoff somewhere. The whole battery vs. no battery debate applies to so many things I deal with, like flashlights versus old school incandescent bulbs. You're basically choosing between convenience now and reliability later, and your mileage will vary on which one matters more in the moment.

Three years ago I had a batch of push-pull rods snap on me during a job in Lakewood and I swore I'd never touch anything else. I was one of those guys who said glow rods were just a gimmick for weekend warriors. But then I grabbed a set off a buddy's truck when I was in a pinch last summer and yeah... I get it now. The battery thing is real, I keep a spare set of AAs taped to the handle and it's fine. That 60 foot run you did in 10 minutes would have taken me an hour with the old fiberglass ones and probably a trip back to the van for a retape.
