The $40 fish tape that paid for itself in one afternoon

Bought a cheap fiberglass fish tape from a pawn shop in Akron, figured it'd be junk. Used it to run a line through a conduit that had three 90s and a mud pile, saved me from cutting drywall in a finished basement. Anyone else have a budget tool that ended up outlasting the name brand stuff?

Grabbed a beat up Milwaukee right angle drill from a garage sale for ten bucks, looked like someone dropped it off a roof. Ended up using it to pull wire through a tight crawlspace where my regular drill couldn't fit, saved me from tearing out a whole section of subfloor. That thing still runs smooth three years later, while the fancy new one I bought at full price started smoking after a year. Sometimes the junk with character is the best tool you can own.

Damn, what did that right angle drill look like before you cleaned it up, @grantp14?
