Tried that heat shrink tubing with the glue inside - total game changer for outdoor splices

I was always skeptical about those expensive heat shrink tubes with the built-in adhesive lining. Figured regular heat shrink was good enough since I had been using it for 10 years. Then last month I had a job up in Spokane where a customer's outdoor coax connection kept failing every time it rained. I finally gave in and ordered a pack of the glue-lined stuff from a supply house. After I installed it and hit it with the torch, the adhesive actually sealed the ends completely. That connection has survived two big storms now and still tests perfect. I mean, for the extra dollar per splice, it seems worth it honestly. Has anyone else noticed a big difference with these on outdoor drops?

Did your buddy have to redo any of his old splices after trying that stuff? Mine put it on a weather exposed security camera connection last fall and hasn't touched it since, even after a freeze thaw cycle. Sounds like the adhesive does what the regular stuff promises but never delivers.

Actually it's the same tape just a different thickness... does the same thing.
