A repair tech in Denver told me to stop cleaning focus rings with alcohol and I switched to naphtha
He said alcohol dries out the rubber and pulls the grease out of the helicoid, which I had been doing for 2 years on every lens that came through my bench. Switched to naphtha on a cotton swab and the rings stopped cracking on the Canon FD glass I work on. Anyone here use something else for stubborn focus ring grit?
