Blew $85 on a lens cleaning kit that was just rebranded alcohol wipes

Bought this fancy kit off eBay for cleaning fungus. Turns out it's the same stuff you get at the drugstore for $3. Anybody else get ripped off by those overpriced cleaning kits?

Can't believe they really charged you $85 for wet wipes.

The real issue nobody's talking about is how they probably marked those wipes up 300% because they knew you were desperate. I went to a concert once and they charged me $12 for a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer that costs $2 at Walmart. It's not even about the wipes themselves, it's about the principle of price gouging in situations where you literally cannot walk away. They count on you being stuck with no other option, like at the airport or a stadium or a hotel. That's what makes me so mad, it's not the $85 it's the fact they knew they could get away with it.

The thing that really gets me about this is that these companies know the exact kind of person they're targeting. They don't market these kits to people who are just casually cleaning their glasses. They go after folks who just dropped hundreds or thousands on a camera lens or a telescope and are terrified of messing it up with the wrong cleaner. That fear is what they're selling, not the wipes. It's a pretty lousy way to make a living when you stop and think about it. And yeah, $85 for something you could have bought at CVS for the price of a sandwich is just shameful.
