Hot take: Lens fungus isn't always a death sentence for repair

Pulled apart a 35 year old Pentax 50mm last week that looked like a science experiment inside, cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide and UV light for 3 days and now it shoots sharper than my modern kit lens. Anyone else found a salvage trick that flew in the face of conventional wisdom?

Did you wipe the haze off the rear elements before or after the UV treatment?

Lol honestly I just hit it with a microfiber cloth and hoped for the best. Overthinking lens cleaning usually just makes things worse in my experience. The UV treatment probably killed anything still alive on there anyway right?

Agree with you there... sometimes just a quick wipe and done is all you need. UV probably finished off anything left anyway.
