Just nailed down a method for aligning rangefinders without expensive gear

I was working on an old rangefinder that had a fuzzy patch. Instead of sending it out, I tried fixing it myself. I used a small screwdriver and looked up some tips online. The trick is to make very small adjustments and test the focus each time. After a few hours, I got it SPOT on. Now I'm much more sure about doing these fixes. It's cool how basic tools can work so well. Hope this tip helps others avoid costly services.

Hey, reminds me of when I fixed an old radio with just a paperclip.

People get weird about simple fixes. My neighbor replaced a car door handle with a zip tie and it's lasted three years. There's this whole hidden world of MacGyver solutions that just WORK. We're surrounded by over-engineered stuff that breaks if you look at it wrong. Meanwhile a bent coat hanger can open a locked door or a soda can tab can fix a broken zipper.

Come on, fixing a radio with a paperclip isn't exactly rocket science. It's a simple fix for a simple problem. Old radios were made so you could tweak them without much trouble. Most folks could manage it if they gave it a shot. Making a big deal out of it seems over the top. It's handy, but let's keep things in perspective.
