Just realized my habit of using a 1.5mm screwdriver for everything was causing stripped heads on tiny aperture ring screws.
An older repairer at the shop in Tempe watched me work and said, 'You're using a hammer to drive a pin,' so I bought a proper set of JIS drivers in 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2mm sizes and the difference is night and day.

Had a buddy who kept stripping screws on his old Canon F1 body, swore it was just bad luck with cheap metal on the threads. Finally watched him work one day and saw he was using a flathead the wrong size for a Phillips slot, swapped him a proper driver and he hasn't touched a stripped screw since.

That's such a good way to put it. I did the exact same thing with cheap drivers on an old lens and made a real mess of it. Getting the right size tool feels like a cheat code for clean work.
