Noticed I hit 500 shutter repairs this morning

Was going through my logbook from the last 3 years and counted 503 shutter replacements. Never thought I'd see that many. Anyone else keep track of their numbers like this?

Margaret, are you saying he missed one, or are you actually tracking his numbers too?

Read a repair blog that said most people quit counting after 100. 500 is a solid milestone though, especially if most are the same camera brand. That's a ton of tiny screws and ribbon cables.

Wait, only 503? You miscounted. Thursday had three, not two.

Saw a repair shop owner say once that once you pass 200, the numbers start to blur together because you've seen every possible failure mode by then. 500 is a lot of tiny springs and precise alignment checks though. Margaret might be right about the miscount, but sometimes you get a day where a camera comes back for the same issue a second time and it's hard to tell if that counts as a new repair or a redo. Either way, logbooks are a weird kind of therapy for this work. Keeps you honest about which models actually stay fixed and which ones just keep coming back.
