Serious question, I turned an old film camera into a digital hybrid and folks are split

I got a classic film camera from a thrift store and cleaned up its insides. Then I fitted it with a digital sensor to work with current lenses. A few pals in collecting say this kills the camera's true spirit. But I see it as a fun way to breathe new life into old tech. What's your view on tweaking vintage gear like this?

Love that you brought an old camera back from the dead like that. Turning it into a hybrid is a genius way to keep using it. The purists will always grumble, but making old tech work for you is the coolest outcome.

But doesn't that defeat the whole point? It's like putting an electric motor in a classic car, you lose the real feel of using it.

You talk about losing the real feel, but that's just how tech works now. My coffee maker is a 1970s design with a modern heating element. My watch is analog but gets its time from my phone. We're always mixing old looks with new guts. The point isn't pure, it's keeping things alive and useful.

My uncle's Pentax from the 80s got a sensor upgrade last year. Now it captures stuff he couldn't with film, keeping it in his hands instead of a display case.
