That moment a shutter curtain spring snapped on a 1960s Ricoh
I had a Ricoh TLS 401 on the bench last Tuesday, cleaning the shutter assembly, and one of those tiny little curtain springs just went flying. I spent a good 45 minutes on my hands and knees with a flashlight trying to find it in the carpet. Ended up having to order a replacement spring from a parts donor camera I bought off eBay for $25. Has anyone else dealt with those finicky spring-loaded shutters on old Ricoh SLRs? It really tests your patience.

3 springs have shot out of my Minolta SRTs over the years, and @riley_wood84 is close but I think you meant on top of the bench leg not under it lol. I had one land on a screwdriver handle once and it bounced all the way across the room.

Did you check under the workbench legs, my Ricoh ate a spring last month and it was there?

Oh man, I had three springs escape from my Minolta SRT-101 in one week back in 2017 and I found two of them stuck to the magnet on an old speaker I had sitting on the bench. That third one though, that little jerk somehow landed inside a film canister I had left open. I swear those springs have a mind of their own they teleport when you aren't looking. Grantp14 is right about the bench leg thing too, I've had them bounce off a tool handle and land on top of the leg instead of underneath. I have started keeping a little flashlight and a magnet on a stick nearby just for spring hunts.
