Bought a $12 headlamp at a gas station in Flagstaff, it outlasted my $45 one

Picked it up on a whim three weeks ago when my nicer headlamp died at the trailhead, and the cheap one is still going strong on the same batteries. Has anyone else had a budget light hold up better than the name brand stuff, or did I just get lucky?
