Debate: Do you trust YouTube reviewers or random people at the campsite more?
I was at a campground in Rocky Mountain National Park last summer and this guy next to me spent 20 minutes trashing the tent I just bought, saying the zippers always fail after 10 trips. Then he pulled out the exact same model from his trunk and showed me the busted zipper. Which source do you put more stock in when deciding on gear, paid reviewers or strangers with real wear and tear?

That guy with the busted zipper on the exact same tent is WAY more convincing than any YouTuber who got paid to say it's "bombproof." I had a similar thing happen at a REI parking lot where a random hiker showed me his stove that melted its own plastic fuel valve after just 6 months of use. Those real world stories from strangers have saved me Probably a thousand dollars in bad gear over the years. YouTube reviewers always fudge the truth to keep their free samples coming in.

Hang on though, the YouTubers usually get the gear for free, right? So they're testing something brand new out of the box, not something that's been through a few rainy seasons like that guy at the campsite. That's a totally different kind of test.
