Got called out by a park ranger for my camp stove setup

I used to always brag about my fancy two-burner propane stove for car camping. Then a ranger at Big Sur last summer watched me struggle to balance it on a picnic table and said, 'you know those legs are made for uneven ground, right?' He showed me how to actually use the stabilizer bars and pick a spot with small rocks to level it out. Now I actually set mine up properly instead of just plopping it down. Has anyone else had a ranger or fellow camper point out something obvious you were doing wrong?

Read an article that said most stoves come with those features people never use.

Oh man, that's a good lesson to learn the easy way instead of the hard way. I've definitely been guilty of just setting stuff up however and ending up with a wobbly mess. Did you ever have any close calls with boiling water or a hot pan before that ranger stepped in?

Same kind of thing happens with people who never read an appliance manual or watch a youtube tutorial before using something. Everyone thinks they already know how to do it, so they miss the easy tricks that make things way simpler.
