Got caught in a surprise downpour on the Lost Coast Trail and my old tent failed. What's a good 3-season tent for heavy rain under $250?

My buddy had his rain fly rip wide open in a storm on the Appalachian Trail. He was soaked and miserable for two days. He saved up and bought a Marmot Tungsten. That thing is a tank in the rain. The full coverage fly and good vents kept him bone dry through some nasty weather last fall. You should check that one out, it's right in your price range.

My cousin got caught in a downpour with her cheap tent and the floor just soaked through like a sponge. She woke up in a puddle, it was a total disaster. Ended up borrowing a friend's old REI tent for the rest of the trip and stayed completely dry even though it rained more. That experience totally changed how she shops for gear now. She won't even look at a tent without a solid bathtub floor. It's crazy how one bad storm can teach you that lesson.

That Tungsten is great, but I've seen the vents get overwhelmed in a real sideways downpour.
