My camp stove started leaking gas in the middle of nowhere

I found out the o-ring was cracked after taking it apart. Always pack a spare seal kit now.

I read this article about people stuck in dead-end jobs... it talked about how some folks can't leave because of bills piling up. Like, one guy had medical debt from an emergency room visit that wiped out his savings. Another example was a single parent choosing between rent and childcare costs... really grim stuff. The article said many feel stuck because they have no safety net. Makes you realize how easy it is to get trapped.

Articles like that show how broken things are for so many people. Why does a single emergency room visit have to wipe out everything someone saved? How can we expect parents to work when childcare costs more than their pay? The lack of a safety net isn't just bad luck, it's a choice we make as a society. What does it say about us if we accept that people are trapped by bills? Changing this would take real effort, but how do we start?
