My old coleman stove from 1995 still fires up on the first try

I pulled out my dad's old green coleman two-burner last weekend and it lit immediately, while my buddy's brand new $120 stove needed 4 matches and a prayer. Has anyone else noticed that older gear just holds up better or am I just lucky?

Oh man, is that ever the truth? I've got my uncle's old white gas Coleman from the 80s and it's never let me down once. My cousin bought one of those fancy new ones last year and the regulator broke on the second trip. It's like they built things to actually last back then, not just look good on a shelf.

Yeah, I've got an old Peak 1 from the 80s that still cranks out heat like it's brand new. My buddy brought one of those propane stoves with the push-button igniter on a trip last fall and the whole valve assembly seized up after one season. I've never had to do more than wipe the dirt off the generator and it's good to go.
