Showerthought: I just hit 50 nights in my $40 hammock and it's still perfect.

Part of me thinks I should upgrade to a fancy one, but the other part says if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Do you stick with cheap gear that works or always chase the upgrade?

That "if it ain't broke" part is so real. I used a cheap backpack for years until the zipper finally died. Upgraded then, but it felt earned. Chasing the new thing just because is a trap.

But sometimes waiting for total failure costs you more. I had a backpack strap tear during a trip and it was a huge hassle. A planned upgrade can beat an emergency replacement.

@piperbailey But was the upgrade worth it? I kept using a busted cooler that was duct taped together for two summers till I finally bought a rotomolded one and honestly the cooler didn't change my life, just my wallet.
