Warning: I paid $85 for a "self inflating" sleeping pad that never self inflated once
Layed it out flat in the living room for 3 hours like the tag said and it stayed flatter than a pancake, so I ended up huffing into the valve for 20 minutes at 11pm in the dark like an idiot, and now I want to know if anyone has a pad under $100 that actually fills itself or if that feature is just a total myth.

Tried the same thing with a pad from REI and gave up on the whole self inflating thing after two trips. What finally worked for me was a cheap pump sack, the kind you wave around to trap air and then squeeze into the valve. Mine was like $25 and fills my pad in about 90 seconds without me passing out. The pad itself still needs a few breaths at the end but it beats doing the whole thing with your lungs at midnight.
