Was ready to toss my camp stove, but a good scrub saved it

I've been dealing with a camp stove that wouldn't light for the past few outings. Gave it a deep clean last night and now it starts right away. What's your go-to method for stubborn gear that acts up?

Honestly I just replace stuff when it acts up. Cleaning feels like a temporary fix and I'd rather have reliable gear. A new stove isn't that expensive for the peace of mind.
