Can we talk about those free credit score apps actually being useful for once
I signed up for one of those free credit score apps back in March mostly because my brother would not shut up about it, and I figured it would just spam me with offers and show me a useless number. Three months in, I got a alert saying my score dropped 41 points, which turned out to be a collections hit from an old internet bill in my name from a roommate situation back in 2019 that I never even knew about. I called the collection agency, and because I caught it so fast, they sent me a letter saying they would pull it off my file and it never touched my actual report. If I had waited until I applied for a mortgage, that thing would have sat there for years and cost me a better rate. Now I check it every Sunday morning with my coffee like some kind of ritual. Anyone else actually catch something real on those apps, or is it just me getting lucky?
