Just heard someone say they canceled their Spotify over the Joe Rogan thing back in 2021
I was waiting for an oil change yesterday at that shop on Main Street and this guy next to me was telling his friend he still hasn't gone back to Spotify because of the whole Joe Rogan misinformation thing. He said he switched to Tidal and honestly hasn't missed it. Made me think about how long that canceling really lasts for people. Does anyone here actually stick with a brand boycott for years or do you eventually creep back?

Oh please, the whole thing was SO overblown. I mean yeah people got mad but acting like Spotify is some evil empire because one guy talks too much on his podcast? Come on. People move on from stuff like this all the time. Most of them probably signed back up within six months when they realized they missed their playlists. I bet most of the people who "quit" forever are just bluffing anyway.

Look I get why people were frustrated, but honestly? I had friends who swore they were done with Spotify forever and they were all back by Christmas. It's like when everyone got mad at that yogurt brand for the whole thing with the bees or whatever. People get loud online but in real life they just want their stuff to work. I felt bad for the people who actually felt hurt by it, but the performative quitting got old real fast. You can't blame someone for not wanting to lose years of curated playlists over one guy you can just skip past.
