My cousin's small town hardware store got run out of business over one Facebook post in 2019 and I'm still not sure it was fair
So my cousin ran a hardware store in a town of about 4,000 people for 22 years, and in 2019 he made some dumb joke on the store's Facebook page about a customer who kept returning the same drill. Someone screenshotted it, and within a week there were people in the comments calling for a boycott, and he ended up closing the doors 6 months later. I get that mocking a customer was a bad move, but losing a whole business over one post feels like a lot. The guy he joked about even said publicly he wasn't mad about it. Where's the line between somebody deserving a backlash and a mob just piling on for fun?
