Picked the wrong dog for my first grooming client after a 3 year break, and the owner had to come get him 20 minutes in.

I chose a nervous golden doodle over a chill old poodle because the doodle was booked first, but he snapped at my clippers and I knew I messed up, has anyone else had to bail on a job because they picked the tougher option?

Did you warn the owner about the doodle's past behavior before the booking?

Three years off is like starting over with your instincts... I had to hand off a border collie mix after ten minutes once, owner warned me she was "selective" but she locked eyes with the blade and I knew I was done. It's always better to lose the fee than the trust, especially with doodles that have that nervous energy built in. You made the right call walking away early.

Yeah @susanb34 good point, but the owner just said hes nervous around new people and that's it. You gotta trust your gut when the dog goes stiff at the clippers though. Better to call it quits early than get bit and ruin your whole day.
