Realized my old gym playlist was full of canceled artists
I was at the gym last week and my shuffle landed on R. Kelly three times in one hour. That got me thinking about how many artists on my old workout playlist got canceled for various reasons. I had Chris Brown, Trey Songz, even some pro athletes I used to look up to. So I spent a Saturday rebuilding the whole thing from scratch with artists nobody has come for yet. It took about 4 hours of digging through Spotify and asking friends for recs. Now I don't get that awkward feeling when a song comes on and I remember the drama. Has anyone else had to quietly delete a whole playlist because of cancelations?

Respectfully gotta disagree with @laura_schmidt82. I still listen to whatever gets me through a squat set, drama or not. A good beat is a good beat, and I didn't sign up to be nobody's judge.

Pretty sure my gym playlist from 2010 is basically a police lineup at this point. Had to quietly retire half of it while pretending I just wanted a refresh. Now I just stick to artists who are too boring to get canceled.

The boring artist strategy is smart honestly. I've been running into this problem with podcasts too. Some host from five years ago said something dumb and now I can't listen without feeling weird about it. I just rotate through instrumental stuff now. No lyrics means no problematic backstory to ruin the tempo.
