Shoutout to the indie author who got canceled for saying "real writers don't use ghostwriters"

I was at a book panel in Austin last month and watched her get roasted in real time on Twitter before she even finished her talk. The crowd went from clapping to dead silence in under 5 minutes - has anyone else seen a cancelation happen that fast at a live event?

Small correction - it wasn't Twitter. It was Bluesky. Different platform, same mob mentality though. I was there too, third row, saw the whole thing go down. Her phone was blowing up on the table next to her water glass, could see the screen from where I was sitting. The whispering started before the audience even knew what happened.

Right, because switching platforms totally changes the flavor of the mob. It's like saying you're getting hit by the same brick, but this time it's a blue brick instead of a blue bird. Real progress we're making there. The whispers must have been the sound of everyone collectively facepalming when they realized it was the same old song, just on a different jukebox. Her phone was probably just the appetizer before the main course of "how dare you have an opinion" arrived. I half expected someone to start a slow clap when they saw the screen, like it was a movie scene about how mature we all are now.

Third row too and I swear you could hear a pin drop when her screen lit up with the death threats.
