That J.K. Rowling cancellation still bothers me more than it should

I was scrolling last night and saw someone say they won't even watch Harry Potter reruns because of her. I get not agreeing with her trans views, I really do. But she wrote 7 books that shaped a lot of people's childhoods. Canceling someone entirely over one set of opinions feels off to me. Did I miss the part where she did something illegal or is it just that people don't like what she says? Anyone else feel like there's a line between disagreeing with someone and trying to erase their whole career?

Yeah I mean maybe it's just me but I always wonder why nobody talks about the people who worked on those movies. The actors, the set builders, the costume designers, the CGI guys. They put years of their lives into something millions of people love. Cancelling HP feels like you're also cancelling all their hard work too, not just Rowling. I get not wanting to give her more money but there's a middle ground where you can still enjoy the art without agreeing with the artist. Like I still watch Woody Allen movies sometimes even though he's a creep, I just don't pretend he's a good guy while I do it.
