The local paper's recipe column got axed and nobody warned us
I was flipping through the Tuesday edition of the Springfield Gazette last month, the one that always had Grandma's cornbread recipe on page 4, and there was just a coupon insert where it used to be. Turns out they replaced the whole food section with a syndicated travel page, no notice, no goodbye, and now my daughter keeps asking me for the pumpkin bread that I only ever made from that clipped recipe. Does anyone else miss how these small-town columns just vanish without a trace, or am I the only one holding onto a 15 year old newspaper scrap?

Noticed the same thing happening with a bunch of local stuff lately, like the hardware store putting up a big chain sign and the old guy who fixed shoes just disappearing overnight. Seems like everything's getting swapped for generic versions without anyone asking us if we even wanted that.
