Visited a small bookstore in Portland that got canceled on social media

The owner posted something political back in 2020 that got dug up, and now half the shelves are empty because suppliers won't work with them. Has anyone else seen a local business actually close because of this stuff or do most of them bounce back?

Honestly I think people overreact to stuff from years ago. A lot of these situations blow over after a few months if the owner just lays low and doesn't engage. But yeah, if suppliers actually cut ties that's a real problem that's hard to come back from.

You ever wonder if laying low is actually just a fancy way of saying hiding under a rock and hoping nobody finds you? @diana617 I think you're right that suppliers cutting ties is the real killer though. My old business partner tried the whole "just let it blow over" thing and it took him two years to even get a wholesale account back. I guess I'm just too clumsy to disappear gracefully, I'd probably trip over my own phone and accidentally reply to the wrong person.
