Watched a hardware store in Tulsa get dragged online for a $12 return policy sign, and I think the mob got it wrong
I was killing time in a True Value off 15th in Tulsa last Tuesday when this guy in a work vest started filming the clerk over a $12 refund on a returned drill bit set. The clerk pointed at a handwritten sign saying no returns after 7 days, and the guy posted the video that night claiming the store was scamming working people. By Thursday the place had a 2.1 rating and the owner was getting calls at home, so I wrote a long comment explaining the sign has been taped to that counter for at least four years. Turned out the guy was 11 days past the cutoff and just wanted the internet to fight for him. Did the pile-on actually fix anything here, or did a small shop just eat a week of harassment for a rule that was posted in plain sight?
I used to figure the internet was a fair way to keep businesses honest, but now I see it just turns into a mob for a $12 return. That owner got his week wrecked over a sign that was sitting right there the whole time.
