Wore a 'canceled' band shirt to a concert and got an earful from a stranger
Ngl, I pulled out an old Lostprophets shirt from 2012 just for a laugh at a local punk show last Friday. Some guy who looked twice my age came up and started yelling at me about the singer, like I didn't know. I get it, the band's done for what he did, but I just liked the riffs back then. Has anyone else worn something canceled in public and got roasted for it?

I used to be all "just separate the art from the artist" until I saw a guy wearing a Brand New shirt and my stomach just dropped. Realized I can't really tell other people what to feel about that stuff anymore. There's a line between laughing at an old band and wearing a shirt that made someone feel unsafe or angry in that moment. The guy yelling at you was out of line for sure, but it made me rethink my own closet choices and I stopped wearing a few things after that.

Stop acting like a t-shirt is a trigger warning. It's just a shirt. If someone wearing a band you don't like makes your stomach drop, that's on you, not the shirt. The whole "rethink my closet choices" thing sounds like trying to be the hero of a story that doesn't exist. People have been wearing dumb band tees since forever and nobody cared until someone decided to make everything about feelings. Yelling at someone over a shirt is way worse than the shirt itself.

Yeah I kinda went through the same thing. I had this old shirt I loved but realized it just wasn't worth the weird looks or the awkward conversations, so I swapped it for something else and honestly never looked back.
