A customer's water stain comment made me fix my knee padding method

Had a job last month in Austin where a lady pointed at a spot on her old carpet and said 'you can see every seam where the padding shifted.' I always just used spray adhesive and hoped for the best. She wasn't being mean, but it stuck with me. Now I staple the padding down every 2 feet along the seams before laying the carpet. Takes maybe 10 extra minutes on a 12x15 room. Has anyone else switched to stapling after a complaint like that? Or do you use something else to keep padding from moving?
