A homeowner in Boise called me out over my seams

Last month I was installing a bedroom carpet and the homeowner watched me the whole time. He pointed at one seam and said, "that line is going to drive me nuts in the morning light." He was right, I re-did it with a wider overlap and a hot iron seam tape, but now I check every seam from a low angle before I call it done. Do you guys ever get customers who spot something you'd normally let slide?

Ugh, "that line is going to drive me nuts" gave me flashbacks. I had a lady in Meridian once crawl around on her hands and knees for like ten minutes just to find a seam I thought was invisible. She was right though, in the late afternoon sun it stuck out like a sore thumb. Now I always do the flashlight trick from a low angle before I finish up, just like you said. It's annoying but honestly, it's saved me from a few callbacks. I think most of us have that one customer who ends up being a free quality control inspector, ha.
