Debate: Do you stretch carpet before tacking or just power stretch? I had a job go sideways.
Last Wednesday I was doing a 12x15 room in a house near Oakwood and I decided to skip the power stretcher and just knee kick. BIG MISTAKE. The carpet wrinkled up along the 15 foot wall and I had to pull it all back up. So what do you guys do for bigger rooms? Is power stretching always the way or do some of you get by with just knee kickers for everything?

Learned that lesson myself a few years back on a master bedroom. Knee kickers just can't get the tension you need for anything over 10 feet, especially with thicker pile carpets. Power stretcher is the only way to go for big rooms or you'll be ripping it all back up.

Ugh I felt that "ripping it all back up" part way too much. Did a living room when I first started and thought I could get away with just the knee kicker... big mistake. Spent an entire weekend redoing it and cursing myself the whole time lol.

And once you get comfortable with the power stretcher you'll never touch a knee kicker again.
