Found a trick for stretching carpet in tight closets

I kept struggling with getting good tension in those small walk-in closets where you can't fit a knee kicker. Last week I tried using a scrap piece of 2x4 to push the carpet into the tack strip while pulling with hand tools. Worked way better than I expected after fighting with it for 3 years in Dallas. Got a clean stretch on a 4x6 closet without any wrinkles. Anyone else use a block of wood for those tight spots?
