I finally turned my carpet scraps into a DIY area rug, but I'm debating the finish.

I used leftover bits from jobs to make a rug for my sunroom. Some installers say sealing the edges with latex is key, but others say binding tape looks more professional. Which method do you recommend for a home project like this?

Totally go with the binding tape! @hayden_rivera is right, it looks way cleaner than latex and holds up great.

Latex sealing can look just as clean if you do it right, and it's way more forgiving on uneven scraps. Binding tape might seem pro, but it can peel up over time if the carpet bits aren't perfectly flat.

What are you leaning toward? I bound mine with tape (the cloth kind, not the plastic stuff) and it's held up for years, even with dogs running over it all the time.

Honestly used to swear by latex for everything, thought tape was too fussy. But seeing it hold up to dogs for years is pretty convincing, might have to try the cloth tape next time.
